Greymoor Academy Recap Part 3: The Heat and the Truth
The truth about Maisie's father, the divorce request, the 43-page contract, Cole's ash attack and a secret honeymoon in France. Chapters 84–132.
Greymoor Academy recap part 3 covers chapters 84–132. The heat chapters are written for adults; we summarise them in a line and never describe them.
After the duel (chapters 84–97)
Maisie wakes up restrained for her own safety, and a shy French girl sets her free: Juliette Chastain, Quinlan's younger half-sister, a hybrid who was never allowed at Court. She becomes Maisie's friend on the spot.
The change brings Maisie's first heat, and it turns the mansion upside down. The four keep her away from every other male in the house and refuse to touch her while she is not herself. When the heat starts erasing her memories, Soren explains that it will not break on its own, and that as her first-marked mate the right is his, but he will not claim it without her choice. She chooses Jericho. Over the following week she bonds with each of the four in turn.
Along the way we learn small, telling things. Soren has been cooking most of her meals. Mercer refuses her while she is not lucid, because it would make him feel too much like his own father, and he never wants her to look at him that way. The Queen insists on a humiliating royal exam. When the heat breaks, Maisie realises the bond is now permanent. Before, she could have rejected it.
Silas Thorne (chapters 98–102)
She tries to run, and Soren stops her with a name: Richter Adams. Her quiet Omega father was really Silas Thorne, one of the best assassins of the Exiles. He was sent to end four-year-old Soren and could not do it. He left the boy a dagger and a life debt, then fled with his newborn twin daughters, the children of the woman who called herself the Exiled Queen. Years later Soren found him in Night Shade and saw a little girl in a pink dress on the steps. She looked up at him, and in Lycan terms she left her mark on him: he imprinted on her for good.
When the second dagger arrived years later, on the eve of Soren's wedding, he chose to honour the debt, and was exiled for it. The four arrived too late to save Richter. They hid Maisie as a maid and erased her memory of that night.
Maisie asks the question that defines her: when did any of them ever ask her what she wanted? Then she asks for a divorce. The Royal Counsel produces a 43-page marriage contract she signed during the heat, complete with sound-mind affirmations and a one-year minimum. She throws Soren through a wall.
Then divorce me (chapters 103–118)
Her friend Regina reads the settlement clause and crowns her the future "most expensive ex-wife in history". Maisie comes back with lawyers and a haircut, and wins the renegotiation with one sentence: "Then divorce me." She gets her own wing, her freedom of movement, her own staff, the power to decide if and when anything happens between them, and an infidelity clause that binds them too.
Cole, meanwhile, is falling apart. The bond now punishes him as it once punished her, and he shows her the bruises. She refuses him for good. He throws liquid ash at her, and Soren takes it across his back. Three Exiles walk in right after: Kisten Hunt and his brothers Bastian and Ryder, now enrolled at Greymoor as neutral ground. That night Maisie climbs onto Soren's balcony to check his burns and calls him an idiot for shielding her. He cannot bring himself to ask her to stay.
France (chapters 119–132)
A trip to Court becomes a surprise stop on the Île de Ré, at Quinlan's parents' house. On the jet, Jericho finally tells his story: the fire in Sochi that took his family, the years of cruelty after it, and the Queen who took him in at thirteen and made him her enforcer. When she wanted him as her sixth mate, the Convergence refused him. It had always been Maisie.
Violette Chastain, Quinlan's human adoptive mother, hugs Maisie like family and gives her a strategy, not sympathy. She explains the Convergence in one line: same colour, same shape, one soul. She also tells Maisie, gently, about Quinlan's painful childhood. There are s'mores on the beach, a jealous "They're. All. Mine.", a zip line Maisie never agreed to, and a bouquet so big she cannot see Soren behind it. When Jericho's nightmare turns dangerous, she refuses to be afraid of him: if he must be a monster, he is her monster.
What we noticed
- Soren's version of the Silas Thorne story will be contradicted by the Queen in chapter 143. Keep both versions in mind.
- The marriage contract is played for comedy, but the book never pretends it was fair. Maisie's renegotiation is her taking back choices, one clause at a time.
- Jericho's backstory changes how the whole brotherhood reads. See our Jericho analysis.

Questions readers ask
Who was Maisie's father?
Richter Adams was really Silas Thorne, an assassin of the Exiles who refused to harm four-year-old Soren and fled with his twin daughters. Soren tells her in chapter 99.
Does Maisie get her divorce?
Not yet. The contract she signed during the heat requires a year, so in chapters 106–107 she renegotiates it instead, with "Then divorce me" as her answer.
Who is Violette?
Quinlan's adoptive mother, a human woman who welcomes Maisie in France and gives her the best advice in the book.
