Greymoor Academy Chapters 205–273 Review: After Samhain
Samhain, the time skip and the rift. The latest chapters of Greymoor Academy are its darkest and its boldest. Our review, with content notes.

Our Greymoor Academy chapters 205–273 review covers Samhain, the time skip and the rift. Content note: this range is the darkest in the book so far, including violence, grief and a pregnancy loss. We name these events and never describe them.
Every thread in the first two hundred chapters points at one night, and the book does not flinch when it arrives. Samhain costs Maisie almost everything: her bond, her health, her child, her friend and her name.
What works
Lyon's chapters. Chapter 210 gives Lyon Park his own point of view for the first time, and it is devastating in the best way. We learn what the four did to warn him off, why he stayed away, and why he follows the car anyway. Chapter 212 is the emotional peak of the book so far. We wrote a full Lyon Park tribute.
The comeback. Maisie's recovery in a German hospital, crawling towards the door because rage is all she has left, is written with real force. Then chapter 231 turns the whole time skip on its head: she let herself be caught, and the ash that nearly ended her has made her immune. It is the best twist in the range.
Soren's letters. The short notes he sends her while she runs, from "Come home" to an honest "I'm sorry", do more for his character than any grand gesture.
The scale. A dragon at the Interschool Games could have been silly. Instead it pays off the lore of the rift, the keeper line and the Goddess, and the dragon's temptation, a perfect life that includes Lyon alive, is genuinely cruel.
What doesn't
The four cross lines again. The interrogation in chapter 228, Quinlan's drunken visit in chapters 235–236, and the welded ring in chapter 249 are all framed as possessive romance. Some readers will love the intensity. We think the book leans on "they were hurt too" more than it earns. See our essay on the mate bond and free will.
Maisie's silence stretches. Her reason for lying to the four is clear: the Queen has spies everywhere and people she can threaten. But the misunderstanding runs for many chapters, and by chapter 250 it starts to feel like a device.
Tessa has one note left. After the fire and the cliff, Tessa's scenes are mostly setups and slaps. She was more interesting when the book let us see her fear.
Our verdict
Chapters 205–273 are the boldest part of Greymoor Academy: darker, stranger and more willing to break its heroine. When they work, which is often, they are unforgettable. When they fall back on possessive cruelty as romance, they are hard to read. We rate this range 8/10, with the strongest content note of the book.

Who should keep reading
- Readers invested in the lore: the rift, the keeper line and the Goddess finally take centre stage.
- Readers who want a heroine who comes back stronger, not softer.
- Take a break if grief and pregnancy loss are hard subjects for you; chapters 212–217 go there.

Questions readers ask
How dark do chapters 205–273 get?
Very. They include violence, the loss of a friend, a pregnancy loss, paralysis and several scenes where the four cross lines. We describe none of it in detail.
Is the time skip worth it?
Yes. The nine months after Samhain turn Maisie into a very different heroine, and her reason for coming back is the best twist in the range.
Does the book end at chapter 273?
No. It is ongoing; chapter 273 is simply the latest chapter we have read.
