This Two Can Play recap part 25 covers chapters 599–608, the newest chapters in our copy. Content note: Seraphine's chapters in this arc are among the darkest and most graphic in the book. We mention what happens once and never describe it.
Part 24 ended with Kingsley on his knees on a beach in Paris and fireworks spelling out four words. These ten chapters give Pat her answer, her truth and a clean break, and give Seraphine the worst week of her life.
Pat: yes, and the truth (chapters 599–602)
Pat says yes before Kingsley has finished asking. The ring fits as if it had been waiting for her. The "little birdie" who told him about her college dream is obviously Celeste ("it couldn't be Seraphine"). They spend the night in the tent on the beach, which the book describes and we won't.
Afterwards, standing alone by the water, Pat finally says the thing she has been carrying for weeks: she is pregnant. Kingsley's first reaction is a misunderstanding: another man's child? No. The pregnancy she told him she had ended is still going. She lied because she was terrified he would stay with her out of duty, especially after Sharon.
His answer is the most Kingsley thing in the book. He could be a father without being a husband, he says, and he would never trap himself in an unhappy life. His heart had chosen her long before. And he made mistakes too, so how could he blame her? Then he shouts it at the sky: "I'm going to be a father!"
The next morning the real world is waiting. Sharon's video from the restaurant has gone viral, calling Pat the plain "other woman" who broke up college sweethearts. Pat's phone fills with calls from her family. Her mother calls her a fraud. Her sister Vivian says Kingsley must be an actor and the baby a stranger's. Her father calls her a disgrace.
Pat doesn't argue. She tells them to delete her number, that she doesn't need toxic or useless people in her life, and that she will get a restraining order if they come near her. Then she blocks every one of them. Kingsley, who has been watching her keep smiling through the call, simply says: "Don't worry. I'll give you a much better family."
Seraphine: the way home (chapters 603–608)
Seraphine boards the red boat under Cara's name. A guard who knows Cara well finds out she isn't her, and the price of the crew's silence is a night the book describes at length and we won't. She reaches the mainland with no phone and no money, cons a taxi, begs at the station and makes another desperate bargain for the fare home.
At home she grabs cash, wigs and clothes before anyone working for Emerson can find her, then goes to the bank. The banker's answer floors her: there is no record of billions ever entering her account. No five billion, no one billion, only millions moved out with her own details. Online, the real Emerson Gath is a 22-year-old senator's son with a new wife and an ordinary fortune. The man who took her to Sin Island was someone else.
She refuses to believe she is losing her mind. She has a plan to win Dominic back, she just needs money. So she dresses to impress, finds a familiar door, and smiles: "Hi, Julian. It's been a while."
What we noticed
- Pat's two big moments mirror each other. With Kingsley she finally tells the truth, and with her family she finally stops explaining herself.
- The fake Emerson Gath is the biggest twist since Sin Island. Someone powerful built that identity, and the Don of the island is now the obvious suspect.
- Seraphine going back to Julian closes a circle that started in chapter 1, when he was the husband she stole.

Questions readers ask
Does Pat say yes to Kingsley?
Yes. In chapter 599, on the beach in Paris, she says yes before he has finished asking, and he slides the ring onto her finger.
Does Kingsley find out Pat is still pregnant?
Yes. Pat tells him the same night, in chapter 600. He isn't angry about the lie: he forgives her at once and shouts that he is going to be a father.
Who is the real Emerson Gath?
In chapter 608 Seraphine looks him up: the real Emerson Gath is a 22-year-old senator's son, newly married and nowhere near billionaire rich. The man who took her to Sin Island was someone else, and her billions never reached her account.
