Skye in Pursuing My Rejected Luna is Cara Anderson's heroine and narrator: a Luna who spent three years waiting to be chosen and the rest of the book learning to choose. Spoilers for the whole novel.
Who she is at the start
Skye Winters is the daughter of Alpha Marco Winters of the Greenwood River Pack, and for three years she has been Luna of Ironwood, married to her fated mate Jaxon Vale. She is a skilled fighter, good at reading a room and very good at her job. The pack respects her. Her husband does not. When she told him she loved him, he told her not to confuse the bond with real feelings, and she spent the next three years trying to earn something he had decided never to give.
By the first chapter she has become an expert in managing other people's comfort. That is why the opening scene hurts: she dresses up to share good news, and the whole room has already decided her feelings are not relevant.
The exit is the plot
What makes Skye different from many rejected-Luna heroines is that her leaving is practical. She keeps the pregnancy secret because she knows it could become a leash. She builds an escape box with cash and documents, opens an account in her maiden name, and trades help for Diana's son for her father's backing. She writes to the one person she trusts. When Jaxon offers a last chance, she sets terms and accepts partly so she can prove she tried.
Her best moment is the divorce petition. She gathers witnesses, hires a pack-law lawyer and tells the elders that faithfulness is not only physical. The council agrees. She wins without anyone rescuing her.
Learning to accept help
Skye's flaw is the flip side of her strength: she would rather do everything alone. After the attack in her father's garden, she hesitates to run to Nicolai again. His answer, that strength is knowing when to accept help, is the lesson she has to learn. At the Woolf estate she is given a key, her own space and real work, and discovers she is not less capable for being supported.
What she wants
The second half of the book is about Skye working out what she actually wants instead of what is allowed. She tells Nicolai first about Benji's name. She asks him to be Benji's everyday father. She decides to reject her old bond so she can choose what she is bonded to. When the bond with Jaxon returns, she admits to herself that she wants both men, says it out loud, and then insists that both of them stop treating her like glass.
Her line at eight months sums up her arc: the bond was never the point, the person is.
Under pressure
The final arc tests her hardest. Taken from a car park on the eve of her heat, she breaks one man's nose before the sedative works, nearly overpowers her captor with her wrists tied, and refuses to answer a single question. When Tatiana leaves the door unlocked on purpose, Skye starts working on her restraints. She is not passive while she waits for rescue, and when it comes, she helps.
Then she makes a choice in a driveway, battered and in heat: she asks Jaxon to mark her and Nicolai to renew his mark. She has been sure for weeks, she says. The choice is hers.
Her relationships
- With Jaxon: from a marriage in which she was invisible to a bond he has to earn. She never pretends the three years didn't happen.
- With Nicolai: the friend she met as a girl, unimpressed with him at twelve, who still sees her.
- With Cassandra: a sister who wanted what Skye had and lied to take it.
- With Diana: resentment turned into her closest friendship once she learns Diana's own story.
- With Noah: the friend who always tells her the truth.
Why readers like her
Skye's arc is a familiar wish made specific: to leave something that is slowly shrinking you, and to build something better on purpose. She ends the book with two marks on her shoulders and a life that doesn't fit any frame, but she chose every part of it. The woman who waited to be chosen becomes the one who chooses.

Questions readers ask
Why does Skye hide her pregnancy?
Because Jaxon names Liam his heir the night she meant to tell him, and she fears the baby would become a way to keep her in the marriage. She keeps the secret until chapter 52.
Is Skye a strong heroine?
Yes, in a quiet way. She plans her exit, wins her divorce with evidence and witnesses, fights off an attacker, and refuses to answer her captor's questions. Her growth is learning to ask for what she wants.
