This Pursuing My Rejected Luna recap part 5 covers chapters 153–192: the bond rejection, the mating ceremony, and the surprise that turns the book's last act. Spoilers through chapter 192.

Previously, in Part 4: Benji's birth and Jaxon's move into the west wing.

Chapters 153–160: Free, then bonded

In chapter 153 Jaxon tells Skye he will formally reject the mate bond himself. She deserves to be completely free, he says, and because he loves her, what that requires is letting her go. He adds that he wants to move on, eventually, and it stings her more than she expects. Two days later they do it together with Gianna and an elder, while Nicolai waits for her. As the bond is cut, three years of waiting and shrinking leave her all at once.

She comes back lighter. When she wakes from a nap, Nicolai's wolf roars: a new bond has formed. In chapter 154 he realises he is her second-chance mate. He tells her the bond is just the universe catching up with what he chose long ago. Diana's lesson comes back to Skye: some things take the long route, and the woman she was three years ago could not have found him.

In chapter 157 Nicolai proposes on one knee in the garden at dawn, promising to be Benji's father every day. She laughs, then says yes. They plan a public mating ceremony, partly to send a message to his enemies, with vows Skye writes herself. Skye invites Jaxon for Benji's sake and admits to Nicolai that she doesn't know what she will feel when she sees him without the bond. Jaxon accepts, and sits at the back while she becomes Nicolai's mate.

Chapters 161–168: The bond snaps back

At the reception Skye crosses the garden toward Jaxon, and in chapter 161 a brand-new bond snaps into place between them. It feels warmer and calmer than the old one. Jaxon sends her back to her husband. Nicolai watches from across the garden with a question in his face, not rage.

That night Skye tells him. Nicolai is angry and scared, and holds her anyway. Dimitri's verdict: the universe has opinions. Skye admits there is something real with Jaxon she hasn't been honest about, even with herself. Nicolai goes to the west wing, and over whisky the two men talk. Jaxon says the new bond feels more like his own than the first one. Nicolai mentions that wolves once lived in familial packs with more than one bond, rarely and at a political cost. Both men say they would rather share her than lose her, and agree that she must choose freely.

Skye meets Jaxon at her rose bench, and when he says he meant it about moving on, she hears that he still wants to go.

Chapters 169–177: Three people, no rules

Jaxon says the new bond feels like something he arrived at, and that he won't reject it before they know what it is. He holds her hand a little too long. She tells Nicolai at once, and that night admits to herself that she wants both of them.

Dimitri reminds Nicolai that he has been building an unconventional life since he let a pregnant, divorced woman into his estate. Nicolai changes the question from whether he can share her to what she needs. On the terrace Skye says it aloud, and Nicolai answers: then the three of them figure it out together, slowly, and she keeps telling him things, especially the hard ones.

The early days are clumsy. Nicolai is too careful, Jaxon asks permission for everything, and Skye feels like an exhibit in a museum of herself. Diana tells her to say so, and she does. Nicolai admits his jealousy to Dimitri, who tells him to feel it, tell her, and keep choosing her anyway. An eastern ally calls, fishing for gossip.

Chapters 178–192: Pressure from outside

A council inquiry at Ironwood calls Jaxon home for a week or two. Before he goes, Skye asks him to say what he wants, and in chapter 179 he does: he wants her, with everything that comes with her. Her reply is "Don't disappear." While he is away Skye admits she misses him, Nicolai walks out to think, and staff gossip about her. Nicolai finally asks whether she would choose if he couldn't do this. She would choose him. He tells her he can't watch her give it up.

Jaxon returns early, and the three cross a line together. Nicolai realises it felt like recognition, not a threat. Then the outside world pushes in: allies call, Dmitry Volkov sends a warning that eastern parties are interested, and Diana hears a rumour built to paint Skye as unstable and leave her alone. Skye answers by being visibly, genuinely the Woolf Luna, and writes a formal address to the pack.

Jaxon decides to hand Ironwood to Noah, who has seen it coming for years. He tells Skye he is done finding reasons not to choose her. In chapter 192 Benji pulls himself up at the crib rail and says his first word, "Ni", pointing toward Nicolai's footsteps. Jaxon calls Nicolai in to hear it. "He has taste," says Nicolai.

Key takeaways

  • Jaxon's rejection of the bond is the moment his redemption becomes real.
  • The second bond is the book's boldest choice; everything after it is about building rules for something new.
  • Volkov's warning sets up the final arc.
